Britannia Anchor Removals MD cautions against cutting costs by using “cheap removals” services

The average rent paid by tenants in England and Wales matched a record monthly high of £692 in April, according to a survey. Rents rose by 0.8% compared with the previous month and were 4.4% higher than a year earlier, letting agency network LSL Property Services said. This meant that, on average, landlords were charging nearly £30 a month more than a year ago.

Chris Smallwood MD explained “because prices are constantly on the rise from rents to fuel and food, people are understandably looking at ways to save money when moving home. But please be very careful about either using the cheapest moving company or doing it yourself”.  A recent Lloyds TSB survey suggested that people who move themselves found it turned out more expensive than they had expected. Chris continued “It is imperative that you use a company who is a member of the British Association of Removers (BAR). It is amazing how many times people have expressed surprise at the low cost of using a professional moving company, especially when you consider that we have a consumer code of practice, that is both recognized and monitored by the Office of Fair Trading”.
